Q1 Which bluetooth OBD2 adapter should I buy?
Q2 Can Dr. Prius run on my phone/tablet?
Dr. Prius is available on Android, iOS and Amazon platforms. Some cheap Android devices may have a low quality
Bluetooth interface that causes random disconnection, which can interrupt long tests.
Q3 Why is bluetooth OBD2 adapter better than WiFi OBD2 adapter?
WiFi OBD2 adapters require extra steps to connect, and they often interrupt internet connection and yield a poor user experience.
Q4 Why does Dr. Prius try to reconnect multiple times during test?
Usually this means you have too many apps running in the background fighting for resources with Bluetooth/WiFi,
or another nearby wireless device is interfering with the connection.
Q5 How do I know if my bluetooth OBD2 adapter would work?
Connect the adapter to your car, pair it with your device, then run Dr. Prius.
Dr. Prius will attempt to connect to your OBD2 three times. If it fails, Dr. Prius will show what went wrong.
Q6 Will performing the Life Expectancy test hurt my car?
Don’t worry — Prius is drive-by-wire. Even if you press the pedal, the car is not doing a burnout.
It is charging the battery using energy from the engine.
Q7 The engine kicks in during the last step of the life expectancy test — does it affect results?
The latest code takes “engine kick-in” into consideration, so the result will most likely remain intact.
Q8 Where does the monitor page recording go?
The monitor log is stored in the “BatteryTestHistory” folder at the root of your device,
or search for BatteryMonitorLog.csv when connecting your device to a computer.
Q9 What do the green, orange and red voltage blocks mean?
Each battery blade has a safe voltage range from 6–9 volts.
Outside that range can cause small degradation to the battery chemistry — orange and red indicate voltage outside the safe zone.
Q10 What is “Override battery temperature” for?
If noise level isn’t a problem, you can keep the battery cooler during hot summer days and prolong battery life.
Heat is the number one enemy of batteries.
Q11 Why did you create Dr. Prius App?
With thousands of Prius out of warranty every day, average consumers need an easy way to access battery information.
Most general battery info should be free, and users can choose to pay for advanced tests to inspect battery health further.
